Hazel is the Project Coordinator for a collaborative project between INGSA-Asia and the U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM). This project focuses on Countering Zoonotic Spillover of High Consequence Pathogens in the region and beyond. As a passionate advocate for global health and the intersection of science and policy, she has dedicated her academic and professional career to understanding and addressing the complex challenges posed by zoonotic diseases.
Hazel holds a Ph.D. in Genomic and Bioinformatics, with a specialization in plant population studies. During her doctoral research, she delved deep into the world of genomics and bioinformatics, exploring the genetic diversity and dynamics within plant populations. Her work aimed to unravel the complexities of plant evolution, adaptation, and response to changing environmental conditions.
In her role as the Project Coordinator, Hazel is working closely with diverse stakeholders, including scientists, policymakers, and public health officials. Through these collaborations, she has witnessed the transformative power of effective communication and knowledge sharing in shaping impactful policies.
