Politics is not the same as policy. Yet for humanity to surmount the truly global challenges before us, the day-to-day churn of political cycles somehow needs to create policy with an eye to the distant future.

Given what has happened in the year since this was filmed (May 2024), Sir Jeremy Farrar’s words seem prescient as he asks: With populism on the rise and trust on the decline, is there any cause for optimism that we can find convergence on the issues facing us all?
