By consenting to join the INGSA Incorporated Society, you become a Full Member with voting rights on high level governance matters. These voting rights are in addition to your rights as a general INGSA network member to vote in elections for the Officers of the Society (eg. President and Vice-President)

Full Membership of the Society is only open to those currently sitting on INGSA's Governing Board and the Steering Committees of official Regional Chapters and Thematic Divisions. For whatever reason, you cease to be a on any of these qualifying committees then you automatically cease being a Full Member of the Society and revert to Associate Member status.

What is the INGSA Society?

INGSA is an Incorporated Society and Registered Charity in New Zealand. As an Incorporated Society, INGSA is required to have a Constitution, Members, and Annual General Meetings.

What is Full Membership?

The INGSA Network has over 6500 members – this is open for anyone to join, and in doing so they become ‘Associate Members’ of the Society and have specific rights to vote in INGSA Elections for the Officers on the Governing Board (eg. for President and Vice-Presidents)

Yet for high-level governance decisions, such as changing the Constitution that governs INGSA’s global work, INGSA wanted to empower those members who are already engaged through Chapter Steering Committees.

Therefore ‘Full Membership’ of the INGSA Society is only open to current members of INGSA’s Global, Regional, and Thematic governing/steering committees.

Responsibilities

There is no obligation to become an official Full Member of the Society. People can still stand on Steering Committees and NOT be a Full member, they will just have no governance voting rights.

Being a Full Member means that you will be invited to the Annual General Meeting and will be invited to discuss potential governance changes. You also have the right to vote on those proposed changes.

Full Membership does not imply any obligation to vote, and it does not imply any other actions or responsibilities. If you leave your position on one of the qualifying committees then you automatically cease to be a Full Member and will revert to normal Associate member status.
