MIGHT, UCSI-IISDS Launch Book on Science Diplomacy in the Global South
On the 13th February 2025, the Malaysian Industry Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT) and the Institute of Science Diplomacy & Sustainability (IISDS) based at UCSI University launched a book titled ‘Science Diplomacy in the Global South’ at the MIGHT Partnership Hub in Cyberjaya, Malaysia.
The book, co-authored by Tan Sri Dr Zakri Abdul Hamid, the Founding Director, UCSI-IISDS & MIGHT Joint-Chairman (Government) and the Patron of INGSA-Asia, and Professor Dr Mohamad Osman, Senior Fellow at Atri Advisory and Deputy Director, UCSI-IISDS, addresses the crucial role of science diplomacy in addressing issues of global interest including climate change, biodiversity degradation and pollution.
The book also emphasizes the importance of regional collaboration and South-South cooperation for solutions, resource-sharing and capacity-building initiatives. It also highlights the increasing importance of scientific collaboration and research in shaping international policies and facilitating cooperation across national boundaries to address shared challenges and enhance mutual interests.
The mock-book signing was completed by Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr Syed Hamid bin Tan Sri Syed Jaafar Albar, Former Minister of Foreign Affairs,Malaysia and witnessed by Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), YB Dato’ Haji Mohammad Yusof Bin Apdal, Tan Sri Ahmad Tajuddin Ali, MIGHT’s Joint-Chairman (Industry) and Tan Sri Dr Zakri Abdul Hamid.
