INGSA Panel and Interviews at CSPC2025
The 17th Canadian Science Policy Conference was held in Ottawa in November 2025, and INGSA presented a strong delegation of staff and board members for what was an energising and diverse program. INGSA also provided one of the key plenary sessions, Science Advice Abroad: Global Perspectives from INSGA and Future Directions, utilising INGSA’s global Chapters network to provide an international and Global South perspective to the discussions.

CSPC2025 also featured an interview series that featured a number of INGSA board members, including:
- Prof Remi Quirion, INGSA President and Quebec Chief Scientist, discussing his view on the role of science diplomacy, both internationally and in Canada, and whether Canadian’s bilingualism is an asset?
- Dr Kristiann Allen, INGSA Executive Secretary, on the issue of science advice becoming more politically charged, and how can advisers maintain public trust while still being policy-relevant?
- Dr Jan Marco Mueller, Chair of FMSTAN, on how can Canada and the European Union use science diplomacy to strengthen global environmental protection and promote sustainable development in an era of climate uncertainty?
- Dr Marcus J. Prutsch, Head of Unit EU Parliament and INGSA Board Member, discussing the issue of: with shifting geopolitical dynamics and traditional partners turning inward, how should Canada and the EU approach diversification of research partnerships?
- Dr Soledad Quiroz, INGSA VP for Policy, on the relationship between Canada and Central and South America.
